As voting for the 2008 Sammy Awards enters its final days (polls close Friday at noon), we decided to take a few minutes to spell out some of the details of the Awards Party all in a single place for all to hear and read and ingest and love. You see, it’s important to remember that this is an Awards Party and not an Awards Show. There will be no live performances (or even a DJ), no celebrities handing out awards after the opening of an envelope (or even snacks) and no guest host telling a bunch of jokes (unless we can get Ty Mahany there, get him drunk, and have him stand on a table a shout one liners). If this is starting to sound like just another Saturday night, we understand your confusion, which is why we sat down for a brief Q&A with with the Big Star Bar feline in residence and social directer, Tangerine Barcat.

Where is this happening?
Big Star Bar, 1005 W 19th Street in the Heights between Shepherd and TC Jester. Can has.

When?
Saturday night, December 20th. The Bar opens at 5pm, but we’ll start giving stuff away around 10. Meow.

Stuff is being given away?
Oh yes. Commemorative Koozies for one come free with the purchase of a fine beverage from the bar. We’ll also have some of the notorious ATTN SCENE: YOU ARE WHIPS Skyline Network T-Shirts left over from previous events. Hairblz

Will there be any entertainment?
Aside from the usual hilarity of watching a bunch of dudes disprove their manhood through shoddy fire making skills (All grown men should know how to make a fire. All), we will be taking over the sound system and playing the tracks from the 2008 Skyline 50, which you may have noticed are slowly revealing themselves over the course of the week. Also, I will be there and I love attention and sometimes get up on the roof and stare down at you, which is freaking adorable.

Will there be non-drink refreshments?
Hadn’t planned on it, but if you work for or own an eatery that is looking for a quick and easy way to promote your vittles to a demographic that eats out pretty much every meal, this would be a good chance for to do it. Email adr, he can work something out.

Are there going to be any drink specials?
No, but you don’t need them here. The prices are good and the pours are strong. Tip your bartenders.

Is there a cover? Is it all ages?
There is no cover. Alas, Big Star Bar is 21+ only. If you are underage, please stay away as, trust us, you will want this place to still be here in a couple years for you. I am exempt, of course, and please watch your drink around me because I am very curious.
