I’m really counting on Skyline (and other opinion sources) for some informed guidance about the bands. I’m coming down from Austin to check out your music scene and help revive your tourism industry. In Austin I’ve seen two of the listed acts, Bear Claw and The Fucking Transmissions, liked ‘em both. Not listed, I’ve seen Alarma, Something Fierce, Indian Jewelry, liked them all too.

I counted and I’ve seen 28 of these bands. Here are my my plans (aside from Alkari, which I will be onstage for)… All this depends on my decision of how much of the OU/UT game to watch though.

12:00 - The Goods - myspace songs sound pretty good, but I’ve never seen them.
12:45 - Gold Sounds - Think The Jam - tight poppy band.
1:30 - Wild Moccasins - I recommend you see them if you never have, but I probably will walk around and catch as many bands as I can during this time as I’ve seen WM 3 times now.
2:15 - Chase Hamblin - Think Beatles - have never seen him solo, but love the myspace stuff and I’m looking forward to seeing what he does live.
3:00 - News on the March - awesome country rock - think THE BAND.
3:45 - American Sharks and Copilot are both great but I’ll probably be heading up to my gig at that time.
4:30 - Alkari, but if I could escape my own skin I’d probably go see what Poppy Longstuffing is because they have the funniest name. It would be awesome to get that little room upstairs at Avant Garden as packed as we can.
5:15 - If I wasn’t packing up I’d be running around to see just about every band at this time… I guess Riff Tiffs would be the one I’d settle on because I don’t think they play often.
6:00 - Come See My Dead Person is great, but I have never seen Piano Vines and I love their myspace songs.
6:45 - Ton Tons - Is this a super rare show for them, or are they all back in town? If it’s a rare one, then this would be my “can’t miss” show.
7:30 - Free Radicals - Always wanted to see them and never have made the effort to do it.

The evening shows are pretty cool too, but my wife might be taking me out to The Meridian to see the Rolling Stones Tribute band.

A little birdie told me the Mathletes have a saxophone lady now. Power quartet. Just sayin’.

Also, anyone who hasn’t seen Giant Princess: YOU ARE THE PROBLEM.
