Early on in the Vespa resotration I am working on, I found that one of my biggest frustrations was waiting for parts to arrive. I know that I am not alone is this, as anyone whose scoot has sat unstartable in a garage for a week because a supplier keeps sending the wrong carb jet can attest.

So, when I called Motorwest last week to try and get some parts, I was not excited to hear that they were on vacation and would not return until today. So, I emailed a list of what I thought I needed. And waited. As I sat in my hotel room in Whichita Falls last week, watching untold numbers of episodes of American Chopper on the Discovery Channel, one thought kept running through my mind: “How can an entire shop go on vacation. Also, why are you still watching this?”

So, this morning has been an excercise in patience as I fight off writer’s block by fighting off the urge to pick up the phone and call instead of waiting for an emailed reply. We’ll see how long I last.
